- Your TOI Leader was Brandon Montour, who played 24:09
- The Kraken looked for all the world like they were headed for another drudgery of a loss to a team they are always at all times compared to. Everything they did seemed to just be destined for failure. Even having a Jared McCann goal felt like a gift from a team that had otherwise controlled play…and then they got a gift. Blood in the water seemed to reinvigorate this team something tremendously, and they were able to fight all the way back from a 3-1 hole to get to overtime and then the shootout. Even if they aren’t meant for the playoffs, that’s the kind of thing this team should be capable of.
- Power Play came up for both teams and both teams scored. This however did drop the Kraken’s penalty kill to 31st in the league. Seems they finally got their wish to still be generationally poor.
- I told you! Stack Underflow had to come up for this team sooner or later!
- We shouldn’t rely on that, however.
- You’re never gonna believe me until you see the charts, but this was a game the Kraken were largely leading the possession on for just about the entire game with the exception of a little dip in the middle of the Third. They took it to the Knights and got rewarded for it, which is unusual because whenever I bring this up they’ve usually squandered it. They even took moderately challenging shots all game! This comeback should’ve probably happened a lot sooner had Adin Hill not been on top of his game for exactly two periods.
- Berkly Catton scored perhaps the funniest goal of the year with that gimme. Just a fantastic example of the puck being a little bastard.
- Dude Matty Beniers had Adin Hill in the torment nexus during the shootout. That move was just disgusting.
- In general this was a damn good night possession-wise by the Kraken first line. I think we all know they could stand to be a little better in terms of results (or at least, results that stick), and this was a night where all three of Eberle, Beniers, and McMann were all well over 60% in Expected-Goals-For-%.
- Another night of Oscar Fisker Molgaard doing a bunch of the little things right and being quietly one of the better players in terms of puck possession. I’m just saying young man, you should keep doing what you’re doing.
- And out of all of that, Joey Daccord walks away with a .912 SV% on 34 shots. Tidy bit of work and a bit of redemption after a bunch of less than stellar starts that were in front of a demoralized and miserable team. Good stuff!
Let’s Give a Hand To…
- Jared McCann! He got things rolling with his 20th goal of the season on the power play!
- Berkly Catton! He got the single easiest goal the Knights have ever given up, and also the game winner in the shootout!
- Bobby McMann got yet another goal. He’s up to 13 points in 14 games with the Kraken. Man I hope he likes Seattle because his pricetag for this free agency is shooting up.
- Vince Dunn had a pair of assists in this game!
- Joey Daccord badly needed a game where he could rebound like this, and he made his case about as well as you could ask for.
