Kraken RECAP: Mammoth pull away in 3rd period to win 6-3

Here is what I have to call Highlights

I…am going to make sure everyone takes the blame for this game. The Kraken skaters struggled significantly with the puck in their own end; they were sloppy, they let the Mammoth have unfettered access to the net-front with or without the puck, and struggled to keep composure, making a hard job for any goalie considerably impossible. This was a bad example of Lane Lambert hockey and he was rightfully furious about this result. I can definitely see it being the turnaround in travel, but this was an effort that they battled back into and then immediately let get away from them; just like last time. That can’t happen again, especially not with Pittsburgh coming into town on Monday.
The Special teams were again quite up and down! Technically no man-disadvantage goals given up, but the crushing pain of yet another short-handed goal given up once again diminishes the gains they got from an improving penalty kill.
Philipp Grubauer has been doing otherwise pretty okay this season. But he still has a lot of old habits that he needs to convince the public he’s no longer doing, and I’m afraid tonight he did fall back on a couple of them. Granted, he had almost no help and the Kraken seemingly went out of their way to abandon him, but that .828 SV% was earned in the times he was asked to make up for his Skaters blunders.
5 of your last 6 games were losses. That’s gotta change.

Jordan Eberle got a pretty slick goal off of being left effectively untouched in the slot to start the game off of some pretty passing from Kaapo Kakko and Matty Beniers!
Matty Beniers got his 10th of the year on a net-front attack that he never gave up on, giving him two points on the day!
Chandler Stephenson undressed Karel Vejmelka in a breakaway set up by Frederic Gaudreau!
Again, The Penalty Kill did their job perfectly well! It was the other half of special teams that screwed up!

The Kraken finally return home against the Pittsburgh Penguins as a matinee game on MLK day. That game is a 2pm puck drop.
