Kraken RECAP: Dallas has a scrimmage against Joey Daccord, Seattle loses 4-1

Methinks a little bit of grogginess settled in over the break.

Here’s what I need to call “Highlights”:

Game Notes

  • Your TOI leader was Brandon Montour who played 24:31
  • Y’know, it’s one thing to lose a tight game because of some nonsense or a bad penalty kill. There’s at least the idea that luck was the reason they lost. Effort might be questioned in fits and starts, that sort of thing. This? They just got smoked, man. This was a miserable effort all around that had the Kraken at one point with just as many shots on goal as the Stars had goals. I know they like low event games but that only ever works if you bring the low event to them. The Stars mostly had full run of the show, and the Kraken failed to meet it until way, way late in the contest.
  • This was a bad, bad, bad night for the defense in general; they just looked far too slow to be hanging out on the same ice as the Stars and that cannot be the case if they wanna have a shot at contention.
  • Ryan Lindgren threw a massive hit on Colin Blackwell in this game, but was ultimately the one to go to the room afterwards. One imagines Cale Fleury or Josh Mahura will slot in if Lindgren can’t go tomorrow. We of course hope that it’s nothing serious, and wish him all the best in his recovery.
  • At this point I no longer understand what goaltender interference is, but at some point you gotta be able to say “puck’s in the goalie’s pads, blow the whistle”, right? Felt like an eternity on that interference decision that should’ve been blown dead before it ever went in.
  • It may shock you to learn but the power play had nothing tonight, and they had plenty of chances! Meanwhile, the penalty kill was…well, itself.
  • Joey Daccord was getting shelled all game. The fact he walked away with an .875 SV% on 32 shots is a minor miracle.

Was there anything good about this game?

Uhhh…

  • Ryker Evans had a goal.
  • Joey Daccord had some nice saves.
  • The Kraken play an actively worse team tomorrow.

That’s about it. Can’t worry about it now.

Alright, can’t get too in your feelings about all this. Kraken play tonight against the St. Louis Blues in St. Louis. That game is at 5pm PT.

See you then!
