Kraken Prospect Highlights

The one Saturday game involving Kraken prospects wasn’t much of a game, with Czechia destroying Kazakhstan 14-2. Forward Eduard Sale (#12) and defenseman Jakub Fibigr (#7) were most helpful, combining for six helpers – also called “apples,” or officially, assists.

One of Sale’s two and Fibigr’s four came on the same play, the first goal of the game.

Steven Ellis of Daily Faceoff had praise for both. “Fibigr was my favorite defenseman today. He can be a bit inconsistent in his own zone but he did a good job of keeping the Kazakhs to the outside and four assists to boot. Sale made a great play on the first goal, analyzing the Kazakh defense before finding an open spot for Fibigr. He then had a second assist on a great pass to Dvorak at 11:01 to help put the game out of reach early.”

Fibigr was an astounding +7, though he played just over 14 minutes. Team captain Sale had to “settle” for a +4 in 17:37 of playing time. Sale is on the left in the below photo, wearing the “C.”

* We reported yesterday that Team Canada hadn’t made Kraken draft choice Carson Rehkopf active for its first two games. That changed Saturday, in the wake of Canada’s shocking 3-2 shootout loss to Latvia. So we’re hoping to see the talented forward when Canada plays Germany this evening.
