Sunday evening, the Kraken placed goaltender Joey Daccord and forward Yanni Gourde on IR, retroactive to Dec. 22 and Jan. 4 respectively.

Those moved to the IR may not compete in games for a minimum of a week, meaning Daccord is already eligible to return to action and Gourde will be sidelined until at least Jan 11. Seattle will play New Jersey Monday night to wrap up a four-game homestand before venturing east to play Columbus and Buffalo, the latter potentially the scene of his return.

Then, Seattle will meet Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Winnipeg on the road before heading home.

Daccord sustained some kind of bruising versus the Avalanche on Dec. 22. While the upper-body injury didn’t force him out of the game, it’s been “lingering” according to head coach Dan Bylsma. Saturday, Bylsma told reporters Daccord had finally turned a corner in his recovery after “five or six days” of stagnancy. Gourde’s lower-body injury kept him out of practice Friday and the game on Jan. 4, the day of his retroactive IR placement. Ben Meyers, recalled that morning, replaced him on the fourth line.

Additionally, Seattle has recalled defensemen Gustav Olofsson and Cale Fleury from the Coachella Valley Firebirds. While Adam Larsson has not been placed on IR, he suffered an upper-body injury late in the second period of Saturday’s game and missed the entirety of the third. Recalling defensemen suggests he will miss time, but perhaps not as much as his teammates.

Neither Olofsson nor Fleury have played a game for Seattle yet this season. Josh Mahura stepped in upon injury to Vince Dunn in October and November.
