An “almost” of a game, but a much improved effort!
Here’s the Highlights
Game Notes:
- Your TOI Leader was
- Seattle started this game as if they’d been shot out of a cannon and stayed flying. It’s clear they weren’t happy with their last foray against the Utah To-Be-Determined, and spent a good portion of the game skating like the wind. Their puck management on the other hand, was a little behind their skating legs, which was ultimately their killer tonight; with both Vegas goals coming off of puck management mistakes under pressure. It was a real shame, because they seemed to catch Vegas off-guard with how hard they were skating in the first period, and improved over a slow second with a hellacious third. There was some fight here, they just couldn’t connect in ways that could’ve tied it. Frustrating result, but a great effort otherwise.
- Missed shots once again were a complete killer tonight. The Kraken took 63 shot attempts across all situations…and only 25 of them made it to net. Some of them were even really good. It’s endlessly frustrating when an offense that can spend as much time moving the Knights around seems so uninterested in actually testing their net-front defense for any more than a few specific chances (one of whom went in, and the other could’ve just barely made it), and even then that was only because their puck management was so off-kilter. Little mistakes like this over 60 minutes become the game-killer.
- Massive improvement on discipline for the Kraken in this game; as they were assessed no penalties at all through the game. The Power Play however, still needs a lot of work; particularly the late-game version of it that struggled to get out in front of Adin Hill at all. Offseason work at this late in the game, but they need to really figure out a better way to control the puck with the man-advantage because it is a chronic problem that needs solving.
- Ryker Evans left the game for a little bit on account of taking a puck to the side of his face, but returned after a quick tuneup by the medical staff. Hopefully it was just some swelling and he’s ready to go for Saturday night. He may have to get a cage if it’s serious enough.
- Joey’s goals against were not the best, but he gave the team a chance to win it by posting a .920 SV% on 25 shots-against. The Knights just found a way to catch him mostly uncovered twice.
Was there anything good about this game?
- Jared McCann was eventually credited with taking advantage of the net-man scramble that ended with Jordan Eberle going to the net and eventually potted home the only goal the Kraken netted tonight. Another 60 point season in the books for Canner, very happy for him!
- The Lack of any penalty killing at all. The Squids played a nice clean game and that seemed to keep the Knights on their toes.

Little annoyed that the Knights scored from almost the same spot on the ice. You’d think they’d have learned. Glad to be rid of these gaudy jerks.
The Kraken come home to finish the season, as they play their penultimate game against the LA Kings at 7pm PT on Saturday.
Thank you for reading, we’ll see you there, and as always:
