Things look bleak for Seattle right now.
The Kraken’s losing streak now sits at 4, with two of those games being 5+ goal-against nights, including against a pretty banged up Florida team that they nearly came all the way back against.
Now…they have to play teams that matter. Starting with Tampa.
Tampa was the start of a lot of the Kraken’s current woes; they were the first team they lost to on this losing streak and the Bolts made them look foolish the entire way; not just the beneficiaries of insane luck. They are genuinely a fantastic team with a feverish desire to attack the net-front, have the talent to do so without any remorse, and their stars are a little nuts. Nothing I said about them last time was different than now.
The Kraken, now a mere 12 games away from the end of the season, are in a terrible spot; they need to win if they want to keep pace with the rest of the playoff picture, but that’s rapidly falling out of focus. That’s not entirely reasonable without the rest of the division playing along (which…they could, in all honesty). They are also not nearly bad enough to tank to juice their lottery chances. Current odds set by Tankathon have them at a 5% chance of getting the lottery balls to make things work, and a pretty good chance at sticking around at 9th overall.
The only thing left now…is pride.
The Kraken’s woes were started by this stupid team, and they can be undone by beating this stupid team. Get up on their defense; force their goalies to beat transition chances like Florida had to, and get Bobby McMann, Jordan Eberle, and Matty Beniers the space to run around.
Let’s win this goddamn game for us.
