Last night, the Kraken went and had a real drama filled evening against the St. Louis Blues.
Now, they gotta do it with a much better team; the tied-for-2nd in the Central Dallas Stars.
The Stars are a bit of a conundrum. They should be a fantastic team that should be running away with their division, and yet…they generate almost no chances at even strength. No, seriously. They’re 32nd and 30th in shot attempts and unblocked shot attempts respectively in the entire league; both in counts and rates.
So what makes them so dangerous? Easy. 3rd in the league Power Play, and the skill of their forwards makes defending them a daunting task. They’re still fast, but they are the most dangerous when they can cycle the puck uninterrupted. The Kraken must summon the best penalty kill of their season if they want to take 4 points from this quick trip down to the mid-south territory. It will be one of, if not THE biggest issue.
