Game Preview

Things could be going better coming out of the Olympic break for the Kraken.

Since Wednesday the Kraken have had to play one pretty good team and one not so great team, and have looked the exact same in both of those games: sub-NHL. Their effort in front of their goaltenders have been unacceptable, their offense has been sluggish outside of specific chances, and the game has largely been used to bowl over Seattle with very little pushback. The Kraken look completely out of sorts and it stokes a specific fear that they may have come due with their low event gambles.

The good news? The Canucks arent doing much better. If anything, the Kraken might have them beat in that they’ve never had their kind of locker room drama.

The basics for the Canucks are simple: their system and their talent just arent enough, their goaltending gets hurt nearly once a year, and their defense is rapidly falling apart. Their wunderkind in Elias Pettersson has shown improvement now that hes not getting whined at by JT Miller, but hes just not the guy they are paying Many Dollars for Many Years for. This likely has them ready to go full fire sale in just a week.

That means that Seattle better be expecting a hell of an effort; some of these guys want out of Vancouver and badly, so they will be working like crazy to make that happen. Seattle needs to take advantage of Vancouver’s lack of defensive pressure in front of their net and desperately try to get some ugly goals up close with Kevin Lankinen in net.

That, and for the love of God actually support their goalie.
