Game Preview
Well, last night was a bit disappointing, and even worse, they have to face Boston hot off a three game win streak, including two shutouts. Oh, and they’re gonna be giving that giant they had forever that turned them into the horror of the east for over a decade a retired number before the game. Expect delays on the puck drop because of that, by the by.
It’s gonna be a tough night, is what I’m saying.
That said, it’s not like the Bruins are invincible. They are still very weak defensively, even if their goalies have decided that they can actually play every once in awhile. The Kraken need to be hypervigilant for turnovers and gaffes, because that Black and Gold Blueline loooooves giving them up, and usually right in front of their goalie. If the Kraken can keep that defense tested, then all they gotta do is take on Swayman/Korpisalo. It’s how they won last time, and it’s how they can win again.
As for what to watch out for, Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak remain forces of nature separate from a lot of what their team does, so keeping an eye on them (especially Geekie, who’s just become a father and now has a vast reservoir of dad rage and strength he did not know he had.) will be paramount. Further, keeping an eye on Pavel Zacha and Fraser Minten will be critical, as both are experiencing second half surges that may make them difficult players to handle.
If they keep to the script, then there’s a win in this game. Time to dig deep and shake off the grogginess of a late night flight.
LET’S GO KRAKEN, LET’S GO SQUIDS.
