Game Preview

While Seattle couldn’t keep their winning streak going against the Wild, they did still steal a point, which has maintained their improbable 3rd in the Pacific division spot. They also showed incredible gumption in scaring the daylights out of Minnesota to force Overtime.

Today, they gotta do it again…this time against a much more hypothetically dangerous team: the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Canes are one of the better scoring teams in the NHL; currently sitting at 6th in goals-for per game, and as per usual are sitting directly on top of the pile as leaders in shooting attempts, quality shooting attempts, and unblocked shooting attempts…oh yeah, and the Metro division as well.

so how are the Canes doing? Not perfect, but good. They’re nursing a 3 game winning streak and have been scoring like crazy to do so thats done a lot of good to make the week before’s losing streak disappear from the mind.

So! How do you handle a team like that? Well, you need to attack their goalies. Carolina’s Achilles heel throughout the Rod Brind’Amour era has always been goaltending, so testing them with tough shots and puck movement will always be an equalizer

also, in comparison to their power play, the Canes aren’t all that great at penalty killing. Not terrible, but not great either. Seattle needs to use whatever man advantage they can get against this team, because it will be a siege otherwise.
