Against all odds, the Buffalo Sabres are one of the top teams in the NHL.
Years of toil, of fan and owner apathy, of bad trades and poor general management and weird roster decisions in spite of all their various talents have finally achieved stack overflow and the Sabres have finally figured out how to be a winning hockey team: they’re 6-2-2, have 96 points, and are fighting for the privilege to say they can be the top of the Eastern Conference.
does that mean they’re unbeatable?…well, no, but they’ll need to be ready cardio-wise: the Sabres excel at loosey-goosey, pond hockey style back and forth games where both teams score 4 goals or more. The biggest concern is keeping guys like Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, and Josh Doan from imposing their will on the game; as an overwhelming amount of their goals have come from these players.
Get ready for a real chaotic game, because while the Sabres may not necessarily be perfect, it is theorized they may just have the mandate of heaven. They win games in ways that just seem to suggest someone upstairs is personally invested in their success.
So its time for Seattle to go and get some of that for themselves.
