Friends…I’ll level with you. This could be an ugly game for the Kraken.
Now granted, the Kraken have not played especially smile-inducing hockey lately, and they
Colorado is a whole other animal. A different kind of beast entirely. They are not just a dangerous team, they are an event of 5v5 domination. They’re like a Derecho swarming into your home barn and you just have to pray it doesn’t take everything with it. They’re second in shot attempts and unblocked shot attempts, and by far first in the league in quality chances, and effectively live in the slot. Nathan MacKinnon should scare you. Cale Makar should scare you. Martin Necas has effectively quieted all concern around him. You are playing an entirely different game than the Colorado Avalanche are this year.
So what hope do the Kraken have?
Well, barring a sudden outbreak of upset stomachs from spoiled chickpea pasta, the Avs are not impervious to losses, just unlikely to experience them. It is critically important to remember that while Scott Wedgewood is playing out of his mind, he is still very much capable of being a player feeling his age. Getting chances directly in front of him and forcing him to move laterally is a great way to start that.
Further, it is going to take an effort the Kraken have not shown in a good long while. They have the capacity to show a good effort, but they need to put 110% of themselves into this game because the second they let up, it will be bad for them. This is the last team on earth you need to
