Alright, we’ve had our fun, we’ve gotten our yucks in at beating the defending champs on a downswing and the Pacific Northwest’s drainage ditch of suck; effectively erasing a week of abject agony thanks to the Pacific Division being what it is…but now it’s time to get serious; Tampa’s in town, and these two points are now more important than ever.
Now, granted…the Lightning are going through a bit of a rough spell right now as the Buffalo Sabres (yes. you read that right.) are surging to the top of the Eastern Conference, and they look as vulnerable as they ever have or will. Through their last ten; they’re 3-7-0, and have seriously struggled to score more than a couple of goals without giving up three or four more in the process. That still means you’re playing a very dangerous team that is top 5 in shooting, in shot quality, and specifically second in the league at high-danger scoring chances. Even at their worst, the Tampa Bay Lightning are still an absolute nightmare if you’re facing them.
So, what do the Kraken need to do? Simply put, they must defend the middle of the ice. The Lightning tend to attack the middle of the ice overwhelmingly so, and especially in front of the net. They must do what they can to make their goalies’ night easier, because the Lightning just loooove the opportunity to go make a goalie’s life hard.
LET’S GO KRAKEN, LET’S GO SQUIDS
