AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

But First, the Highlights!

Game Notes

  • Your TOI Leader for tonight was Adam Larsson, who logged 24:32 tonight.
  • The Kraken started this one hot; both the Ducks and Squids peppered each other’s goaltender with opportunities, and got two early which set the tone of desperation for Anaheim. Then they did the baffling thing and spent the entire second period basically daring the Ducks to score? And it worked??? I mean, they did…but they didn’t give up the lead, and still mostly controlled play. They even got an insurance goal to make sure it was as hard as it could be. That’s a huge step forward in this team dragging it’s broken corpse to NHL-.500!
  • Of course, in a game like this you have to give further props to the goalie, and Joey Daccord stood strong in this one; finishing with a .941 SV%; something he good and earned during the 2nd period. Full credit to him for another excellent night at the office.
  • 1-for-3 on the PK is pretty good given the shooting talent Anaheim has kicking around. It’s even better if you’re given a single power play the entire night, something that feels…wrong, given how some of the guys on Anaheim play, and you ace it. Well done to Kraken special teams who came up big tonight.
  • Three players with at least two points tonight, bringing back an old feeling of the game going out of the opponent’s reach. That’s a Christmas miracle.
  • So you’d think a Kraken player would end up in the 3 stars of the game, right? Maybe give Joey that first star for his work? Vince Dunn for being a part of just about everything the Kraken did? NOPE! Trevor Zegras got his lacrosse goal and whoever’s in charge of that shoved this punk-ass straight to the front of the line for scoring a cool goal with less than 6 minutes left in the game. I guess the NHL’s awarding style points on Who Was The Good Player Tonight™
  • The Kraken’s win tonight drags them closer to being at .500, but also puts them 3 points behind the Coyotes. Is that achievable? They’re gonna have a big night on Wednesday to find out.

Lets Give A Hand To…

  • Vince Dunn! Ended up with a goal and two assists tonight for three points, and probably deserved the 1st star among skaters.
  • Matty Beniers! Matty Two-Points returned to get a pair of assists; one on Dunn’s goal, and the other on Tatar’s. Played a pretty solid game as well, having the second most unblocked shot-attempts on the team tonight behind Jamie Oleksiak.
  • Tomáš Tatar! Two points, grinding out possession, having a great night, well done to him.
  • Ollie Bjorkstrand! Got this going with a bullet of a power play goal; putting the Kraken man-advantage at a rare 100% on the night.

Still need to clean up that net-front, but they can figure that out over the holidays.

The Kraken are off until after Christmas, so we’ll reconvene in Calgary to watch them take on the Flames in an all-important Pacific Division matchup. That game drops the puck at 6:30pm PT.

Until then! As you settle in for holiday festivities, we happily thank you for reading DJLR, and as always,
