But first, the Highlights!

Game Notes

  • Your TOI Leader was Adam Larsson, who played 22:07 tonight.
  • What a quick game this was! The Kraken spent a good chunk of it in transition, and allowing their goalie to do the work when they couldn’t, and unlike a lot of teams that Seattle has faced lately, that seemed to frustrate the Canucks something fierce; they didn’t have a hard answer for just about anything Seattle did, and struggled mightily to solve Daccord, who we’ll get to, but was exemplary throughout. This was a phenominal win for Seattle that also denies their neighbor their already slim chances of clawing back into the Western Conference race. That my friends, is called reveng-ah.
  • The Kraken found pretty early on that Thatcher Demko’s glove side high when coming across his body would be a significant problem for the Canucks’ great hope in goal, and after a pretty sloppy first period for both sides, they set about victimizing Vancouver directly from the right circle almost exclusively, and those two goals that weren’t taken off the rush and catching Demko looking were both seeing eye shots. It might not be true next time, but the Kraken basically solved Vancouver’s goaltending in a single period, and that bodes so very ill for the Canucks going forward. You’re lucky we were the late game, Vancouver!
  • It’s a little weird that for as sideways as that game ultimately went for Vancouver, they kept their physicality down to responding to a little bit of fracas behind the play, and then one large scrum at the end of the game which ended in a double minor and then a Misconduct from Dakota Joshua. The reality of what they’re letting slip through their fingers must be getting to them.
  • Another night where five different scorers flexed their might. I’m a little nostalgic for times gone by now…
  • The Kraken scored an empty netter! I know it still feels like that should be a given, especially with how offense focused the league is right now, but it’s still news!
  • Joey Daccord got a shutout and earned it against Vancouver; he was absolutely lights out and asked to make some pretty impressive saves throughout the course of the night, can’t ask for better, especially given how mercurial the defense of the Kraken can be.

Let’s give a hand to…

  • Jared McCann didn’t score, but he spent pretty much the entire second and early third period racking up assist after assist on Thatcher Demko and the Canucks’ expense; finishing the night with three, and the first star of the night. Great game for #19!
  • Michael Eyssimont got things going, but he’s should also receive some credit for hustling in just such a way that the Canucks felt like they needed to shadow him all night. Golly, can’t imagine one specific scoring play that might’ve brought that one out of them!
  • All Three of the players who chose to let a shot go from the right circle to score on Thatcher Demko! In order!
    • Chandler Stephenson! Who had a pretty productive night at the faceoff dot as well!
    • Shane Wright! Who tied Matty and Jared McCann in goalscoring on the year with 18!
    • Andre Burakovsky! Who admittedly had a yawning cage to shoot into, but he still hit the mark! There were some sequences where Seattle probably should’ve had one or two extra goals.
  • Adam Larsson played a whole lotta hockey tonight and got rewarded with an empty netter to go home with!
  • Joey Daccord who had a shutout, and wasted no save in getting it. He had a wonderful night.

Can you tell they found a spot that worked?

The Kraken continue the road trip with a jaunt down to San Jose, who will meet them on Saturday at 7pm PT. A surprisingly scary team to play recently, so be on your guard.
