They had us in the first half, I’m not gonna lie.
MAN it feels good to win again!
But first, the highlights!
Game Notes
- Your TOI Leader tonight was Brandon Montour, who logged 28:47
- This game was feeling an awful lot like another familiar loss where the offense couldn’t support their goalie and the defense wasn’t doing much to help out in spite of largely controlling the shooting. But then? Y’know? Jaden Schwartz’s goal (one he is almost never going to score again) gave them life, and then Vince Dunn, who was all over the damn ice tonight, put the game on his back and brought the Kraken back over the finish line and snapped this streak. While he was a strong player all game, he found gears 6, 7, 8 and 9 throughout the final 20 minutes. It’s hard to overstate just how big his game was to the Kraken’s success tonight.
- Still 0-fer on the power play, which needs to change.
- Nobody needed a goal more than Matty Beniers did, and man did he get one in style. Hopefully he finally starts to add some goalscoring back into his offense, because he’s been a decent playmaker and dynamite defender, he just needs that little bit back to truly be a game-changer.
- Grubauer had an .818 SV%, which is still somehow worse than Demko who gave up three goals in under ten minutes. In a game you win 5-4, we can forgive some early ugliness in goal if it means the last goal isn’t on you.
Let’s Give a Hand To…
- Jaden Schwartz! He also went on a mission to tie this game up for the Kraken, getting two gigantic goals that got things set up for Vince Dunn to win it!
- Danny Sprong! Who while he didn’t play too many minutes, had an all-important assist on the game that helped get this ball rolling.
- Matty Beniers! Who got the opening goal for the Kraken and broke a scoreless streak far, far, far too long and too painful to discuss here. Thank. You. Matty.
- Vince Dunn. 3 points, 2 goals, 1 assists. Absolutely incredible work from him.

It is so funny to see Jaden Schwartz’s goal on this chart.
The Kraken had their fun on the road, and are now coming home to face the Utah HC! That game is on Monday, and the puck drops at 5pm PT!
We’ll see you then! Thank you for reading, sorry for the ad-hoc nature of the Gamethread, and as always…
Keep Calm, and Post Zoidberg When We Win.
