These skaters owe their goaltenders a portion of their next paycheck, man.
Here is what could charitably be referred to as Highlights:
Game Notes
- Let’s just skip the TOI thing and get into the notes.
- Seattle’s defense was, and I must make this clear; Absolute. Complete. Trash tonight. Utter Ass. That was an effort far more to forget, and more to take the game tape and send to the bottom of the Puget Sound. They only somewhat marked the men they were assigned and frequently left players wide open, they routinely left shooting lanes wide open, they failed to protect their net whatsoever allowing all sorts of silly second chance opportunities, they skated as though they were eternally down a player, and frequently lost even fairly basic plays on the boards and especially on the backcheck.
- A Miserable performance at the faceoff dot only highlighted that the Kraken were so inept offensively right up until the end; far too many shots on Binnington coming from exactly one part of the ice and never trying to make his night difficult by getting to the middle. It was nice that Dunn and Jaden Schwartz scored, but it came far too late to matter and it made the frustration all the worse. Where was that when they were down 2-0? 3-0?
- The Kraken got two power plays and could not crack a near-league worst penalty kill and gave up an early power play goal. Just another day in paradise with one of the most ineffective special teams units in the league.
- Niklas Kokko made his NHL debut after a very cute little bit recorded by the Coachella Valley Firebirds, though I sincerely doubt he expected to be coming in relief of Joey Daccord after a complete and total shellacking. Neither were exactly sharp, and both players finished with atrocious save-%’s, but in fairness you would have to be bordering on psychic to save some of the work that the Blues were allowed to do in front of the goal crease; both men were effectively abandoned by their team tonight and both deserve a sincere apology from the skaters.
Did Anything-
Jaden Schwartz and Vince Dunn scored tonight. Congrats to both on scoring on your old team.
This concludes the positives of this game.

HELP YOUR GOALIE, OH MY GOD.
The Kraken return to Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday, as they take on the Vancouver Canucks at 7pm PT. Let’s hope they take the opportunity to show up and actually play like they understand what’s going on around them.
Thanks for reading, and as always…
