The Seattle Kraken will need to learn to play without their captain 45 days after promoting him.

Friday afternoon, the Kraken announced that Eberle “underwent successful surgery on his pelvis,” a procedure he’s expected to need “at least three months” to recover from. Neither head coach Dan Bylsma nor general manager Ron Francis provided a timeline for the winger in the eight days since he sustained injury during a home game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Should he need the entirety of the three months he’s projected to, this will be Eberle’s longest absence from the Kraken in the almost four seasons he’s spent with them. He played 79, 82, and 78 games in each of the last three seasons. Exactly three months from today tentatively projects his return in late February on the road against the Florida Panthers, missing 40 games in the process including the three he missed over the homestand.

Despite not playing recently, Eberle still ranks second in goals (6) and fifth in points (11) on the Kraken.
