Jared McCann signs 5-year extension to stay in Seattle

The Seattle Kraken and Jared McCann announced on Tuesday that the parties had agreed to terms on a 5-year, $5 million AAV contract extension to keep the forward in Seattle for the foreseeable future.

McCann has bounced around between three different teams (four if you count Toronto, where he was traded to just before the expansion draft) in six years prior to joining the Kraken. He’s had a career year in Seattle, reaching the 20-goal plateau for the first time, with seven of those goals coming on the power play.

McCann has been one of the few consistent offensive contributors to this Kraken team, and it’s good to see the front office recognize that. Also, shouts to Fort Francis for keeping this one locked down so tight that the team was able to announce it before Elliotte Friedman — not an easy task.

How are you feeling about the first contract extension handed out in Kraken history?
