Frankly I think a better answer is what didn’t happen.
This absolute bloodletting does not however, take into account all of the other s#!t that was happening in Bakersfield that night, which can be helpfully simplified through this:
Game 2 Preview
Coachella’s season is on the line tonight.
The Best-of-3 First round of the AHL Pacific Division has placed them in a battle with the Bakersfield Condors…and as that highlight package and penalty list suggests, it was not their best game. Further, it put a worrying question into the minds of fans: “Are they seriously going to get goalied to end their season!?”
The Firebirds in Game 1 shot from just about everywhere on the ice but especially from the most dangerous areas of the ice, got 39 shots…and exactly one of them went in. Bakersfield’s Matt Tomkins walked away with a .974 SV% and the 2nd star of the game. In order to get back into this one and force a Game 3, they need to challenge this guy harder than they have before. That means their three headed monster of Jani Nyman, Logan Morrison, and Jagger Firkus must and I do mean must impose their will on this contest. If not in goals then in setup work.
Season’s on the line and a team up the road that you’ve been tangling with all year. Do you really wanna let them send you off?
