The extension of Eeli Tolvanen has weighed on the minds of a good many Kraken fans. How would the money shake out for a player given his chance? Finally, Ron Francis decided to lay all concerns to rest at Dev Camp today, by announcing his extension:
It is in fact official: the Kraken have extended Eeli Tolvanen for two years, and for $3.45 Million AAV. With this signing, the Kraken have $7,258,809 left in Cap Space, according to Puckpedia.
Tolvanen came to the Kraken as the direct result of a waivers pickup from the Nashville Predators, who turned out to be a helluva pickup for Deep Blue; having 27 points in his first year, and then finishing this last year with 48.
Given where Tolvanen’s career was headed in Nashville, I think a two year extension for nearly 3 and a half million, multiple memorable moments as a Kraken Forward, and the trust of an organization for the short term is a wonderful turn of events for the guy. Couldn’t be happier for him.
Lets hope he rides this contract into another strong season with the Kraken!
