Cup Champions, Now Kraken, Montour & Stephenson On Eve Of Seattle Debut

@Jennthulhu_Photos

Over their first three seasons, the Seattle Kraken roster has included several players who’ve won Stanley Cups prior to arriving in the Emerald City.

On the roster which will open the 2024-25 season at home Tuesday afternoon, Philipp Grubauer, Vince Dunn and Jaden Schwartz have won a Cup. (Dunn and Schwartz played for tomorrow’s opening day opponent, St. Louis, when the Blues became champions in 2019.) Andre Burakovsky’s won two. So has Yanni Gourde.

This summer, Kraken general manager Ron Francis added two more via free agency. In fact, he signed players who were members of the last two Cup champions. We’re going to let each of them introduce themselves today, in their own words. Later this morning, a story on center Chandler Stephenson, signed for seven years and $43.75 million from the Vegas Golden Knights.

First, though, defenseman Brandon Montour. When he steps on the ice at Climate Pledge Arena tomorrow, it’ll be the first game that counts for him since he circled the ice hoisting the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers last June. Montour signed a seven-year, $50 million deal to move cross-country and try to bring a championship to his new team.
