Coachella Valley Firebirds unveil inaugural jerseys

The Seattle Kraken’s future American Hockey League affiliate — the Coachella Valley Firebirds — unveiled their jerseys on Monday with a little help from the Kraken ownership group. Tim and Tod Leiweke gave fans their first look at the new jersey when they opened a treasure chest down in Palm Springs, near the site of the new Coachella Valley Arena. And they are glorious.

The team got its name and logo just last November. It’s a nice contrast to the watery theme of the Kraken while also paying homage to the heat of the desert in which they’ll play. There’s also a subtle ice blue stripe on the sleeves and around the waist that connects the two franchises. Fans can preorder the jerseys on the Firebirds’ website. You can grab a home or road jersey in either the authentic or replica style.

The Firebirds are expected to take the ice beginning next season after the completion of the new arena. In the meantime, Seattle’s AHL affiliate remains the Charlotte Checkers.
