Adam Larsson signs 4-year deal for $21 million

The Big Cat just signed a big deal.

Adam Larsson, whose was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent after 2024-2025 season and has never missed a Kraken game due to injury, will remain in Seattle for a while longer, signing a 4-year contract worth $21 million with an annual average value of $5.5 million, keeping him on the Kraken roster through 2028.

The 31-year-old Swedish defenseman’s signing was first broken by teammate Vince Dunn tweeting four cat emojis.

Larsson had 4 goals and 14 assists last season. His prototype at 6’3″ 209 lbs is “very steady defender with a lot of agility for a man of his size who can sometimes look like he’s one of the most talented offensive playmakers in the league.”

O Captain! My Captain…?

The Kraken play in the sea, but they don’t have a C. Really makes you think.

Will the Kraken name a captain? They haven’t had one since their inaugural season, rotating alternate captains between Larsson, Yanni Gourde, Jaden Schwartz, and Jordan Eberle. Eberle or Matty Beniers seemed to be the frontrunners for captaincy given their contract situations, but Larsson being on the team long-term makes him a real possibility to wear the C for the team.

Regardless, the Kraken have locked up a pillar of the franchise for another four years. Wear your deepest V-neck today to celebrate.
