Seattle added another defender to the mix at pick 100 with the selection of Tyson Jugnauth. Aside from having a phenomenal name (in a deep names draft, let’s be honest) Jugnauth is also the best defender coming out of the BCHL this year.
Your 2021-22 Top Defenceman Award goes to West Kelowna Warriors blueliner Tyson Jugnauth. The BCHL sophomore finished second in points (50), goals (9) and assists (41) among BCHL defencemen.https://t.co/pCWZxXR3nN#BCHL pic.twitter.com/G6fykI4Rw2

Jugnauth is another offensive-minded defender, much like the Kraken’s earlier blue line pick Ty Nelson. Seattle is clearly pushing to add as much offense as they can with their bundle of draft capital this year. Talking with the BCHL, Jugnauth described what he himself feels he brings to the table with his playing style:
“I’m an offensive defenceman who is a smart player and a good skater,” said Jugnauth. “I like to move the puck. I’m good on the power play. My two-way game has been getting better. It’s still something I’m working on, but my offensive instincts are my main strong point.
Jugnauth is committed to play at the University of Wisconsin next season, and he’ll likely play a couple years over there to develop before we get a look at him in Seattle or Coachella Valley.
