The Kraken announced on Friday morning that they have signed defenseman Gustav Olofsson to a one-year, $750,000 contract. The 27-year old Swedish defender spent last season with the Charlotte Checkers, where he totaled 9 points and 32 penalty minutes in 41 games. He also tallied 3 points in 7 playoff games.

Olofsson will join the Kraken in training camp this summer once again, and will likely be a part of the Palm Springs Firebirds this fall. A 2013 second-round pick, Olofsson has accumulated 11 assists in 59 games played in his NHL career to date. During the 2015-16 season, he was named a member of the AHL All-Star team.

“We are happy to be welcoming Gustav back to the Kraken organization,” said Seattle Kraken General Manager Ron Francis. “Gustav is a strong presence on the blue line and was a great veteran presence for our prospects in Charlotte this past season.”

Welcome back Gustav!
