Know your Enemy

  • As expected, Kirill Kaprizov is once again the Thrill of Minnesota, with 8 goals in 10 games, and leading the team in points with 13.
  • Believe it or not their offense on the man-advantage isn’t being run through Kaprizov...entirely. The main power play professional of the Wild right now is Mats Zuccarello, who has eight power play points.
  • Goaltending has been the Achilles heel for the Wild — boy what a bad feeling can’t imagine what that’s like — as both MAF and Filip Gustavsson are both sub-.900 in SV% this year.

Game Notes

Welcome to frozen Minnesota! It’s been...okay out there?

As opposed to their first few years in the league where Minnesota lived by being kind of dull, the New Look Wild are once again high-octane offense all the time, if only as a matter of habit: Their goaltending has completely collapsed in on itself with no clear answers, but that hasn’t stopped them yet! It does help that they’ve gotten to feast on bottom feeders and attempting contenders for the past week or so. The Kraken meanwhile are riding the cocaine high of beating the Flames of all teams in a comeback victory for the ages, and from the looks of things, Martin Jones will have joined the team again. If you can believe it, him being back would be a big x-factor.

Can the Kraken brave the Wild? Or will Minnesota overcome the Deep’s two game win-streak?

Something’s gotta give, and we’ll find out tonight at 5!
