Kraken Game 22 PREVIEW: Vs. LA (yet again)!

The West coast road trip comes to a close in LA. Let’s finish strong!

NHL: Los Angeles Kings at Seattle Kraken Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The Need to Knows

The Time: 7:30pm PT

The Place: Arena, a name I’m sure it will hold for a very long time, in Los Angeles, California

Place to Watch: ROOT Northwest

Place to Listen: KJR 93.3

An Opposing Viewpoint: Jewels From The Crown (in theory, anyway.)

Know Your Enemy

  • Once again, Kevin Fiala leads the Kings in points, with 22 in 24 games.
  • The goal-scoring leader for the Kings is Gabe Vilardi, who has 11 in 24; with only 3 of them being man-advantage goals. He’s definitely a guy to keep an eye on.
  • Arthur Kaliyev (who, in spite of his name, is from New York) is the leader in power play points for the Kings, with 8 in 23 games.
  • Both Johnathan Quick and Cal Petersen are suffering mightily from “below .900 SV%” disease, though the Kings have been scoring enough to overcome that issue most nights. Peterson has the better record with 5-3-0.

Game Preview

The Kraken have won their last 5 and are now doing something I never thought they’d be doing at the beginning of the season: making a concerted push for Division and Conference lead. It’s wild to think just getting a little bit more scoring and a little bit of goaltending can do for a team. They’ve also denied several of their division mates points over the past week or so, and that’s just grand.

The Kings meanwhile, belched up a 3-2 OT loss to the very bad Senators on Sunday night, so they’re a bit steamed after fumbling the momentum they got from [checks notes]...Beating San Jose. Maybe they’re struggling a bit. Let’s make the Kings struggle a bit more while Seattle terrifies Vegas fans.

Will the Kraken finish their road trip undefeated? Or will the Kings impose order on an unruly group of Squids?

Tune in at 7:30 to find out!
