For the time being, it appears WRIGHTWATCH 2k22 is on hold; as Shane Wright was assigned to Coachella Valley this evening under the conditions of a conditioning loan:

A conditioning loan puts Wright down with the Firebirds for the next 14 days, which for him will mean their next five games. After that, its back to the NHL...Or, that’s what I would say, had the World Junior Championships training camp also not been conveniently just after the two week period; its quite likely he'll go straight from Cali to Nova Scotia to help Team Canada win gold there.
The plan for Wright has always been easy to disagree with for a litany of reasons, but right now it seems like this is the best way forward for Wright to regain confidence in his ability and his game against talent he's more likely to see extended minutes against. After that of course we might have to restart this whole rigmarole regarding his ice time, but for right now it looks like there is a plan. For now.
We'll see how that shakes out further in 2023.
Until then, we wish Shane all the best with Coachella Valley, and hope he finds that next gear to his game.
