Kraken Game 3 PREVIEW: Vs. Vegas!

Tonight we open Climate Pledge to hopefully keep the positive vibes flowing!

NHL: Vegas Golden Knights at Seattle Kraken Stephen Brashear-USA TODAY Sports

The Need to Knows:

The Time: 7pm PT

The Place: Climate Pledge Arena in Beautiful Seattle, Washington

Place to Watch: ROOT Sports Northwest

Place to Listen: KJR 93.3-FM

Know Your Enemy:

  • The Knights are currently leading the Pacific Division with 4 points, and have won both of the games they’ve played so far.
  • There isn’t really a clear points leader, as the Knights are, regrettably, still pretty deep as a team. Chandler Stephenson, William Karlsson, and Alex Pietrangelo all have 2 points so far this season. Five Knights have at least one goal.
  • It seems the Knights have settled on Logan Thompson to be their goaltender of choice; as in...their sole choice, as they do not officially have another goaltender listed. It seems to be working so far! He is nursing a tidy .947 SV% after two games.

Game Notes:

While I know it’s a big ask for the Kraken, I would like for this to be a fairly urbane game of hockey. The last time the Knights and Kraken clashed early on in the season, it reared the ugly head of “Was it or was it not a Kick”, which is the dumbest possible way to start a season. Regardless! This will not just be a look at how the Kraken open Climate Pledge, but also a look at how they handle the Vegas Golden Knights, whose demise appears to have been greatly exaggerated because uh...yeah, they’ve been able to play high scoring games and low-scoring games and win in equal measure. They’re gonna be just as annoying as they were last year, and probably twice as desperate.

Will the Knights remain perfect? or will the Kraken drag these tin-can twerps back into the deep? We’ll find out at seven!
