The NHL announced the December 23rd game between the Kraken and the Flames will be postponed due to COVID-19 outbreaks and the concerning explosion in cases of the omicron variant. No makeup date has been announced.
All games between Friday, December 17 and Thursday, December 23 have been postponed for the Calgary Flames, the Colorado Avalanche, and the Florida Panthers. Calgary’s last three games have also been postponed due to COVID-19.
The Islanders and Senators also have had postponed games due to COVID-19.
There is no word on a league-wide shutdown for the time being.
The NHL/NHLPA are in steady communication, basically it's a team by team, case by case approach trying to get through this wave while following medical counsel, and hoping to avoid a league-wide pause (that's a last resort).

Whether or not a pause can be avoided, we'll see...
This is a throwback to 2020 we could all do without.
