The initial reactions to the Seattle expansion draft were quite mixed. Most of that was muddled by the fact that it went the complete opposite direction of Vegas, with nary a side deal to be found. But once the dust settled, the general consensus seemed to be that there was enough talent on the Kraken roster to make the playoffs, especially in a weak Pacific division.
Well, five games into the year (and not a single home game yet, mind you) the perception of the team has shifted dramatically. Nearly 4 in 5 NHL fans now believe the Kraken will miss the postseason entirely.
On the bright side, NHL fans are cognizant of the fact that the situations surrounding the inaugural seasons of the Kraken and the Golden Knights are very different. Over 3⁄4 of fans surveyed agree that comparisons between the two most recent expansion teams are unfair.
What do you think, Kraken fans? Is the rest of the league counting them out way too early, or was the first week of Kraken hockey enough to shake your expectations?
